Healthcare that Just Makes Sense

About Us

At the Naturopathic Clinic of Issaquah we specialize in providing Primary Care Naturopathic Medicine. We are committed to providing safe, integrative, effective and affordable health care for all conditions. Our goal is to help our patients achieve and maintain wellness on all levels.

Naturopaths believe in finding and treating the root cause of symptoms. This allows us to treat the whole person by understanding the physical, mental and emotional needs of our patients. We adhere to the principles of Naturopathic Medicine, which are deeply embedded in the practice of primary care medicine.

What Our Clients Say

“Dr. Bizzy is always willing to provide her own candid advice and share her knowledge freely. A visit to Thrive Supplements on Front Street is more than an investment in my health. Just walking in the door re-energizes my positive outlook on life with the knowledge there is a natural path toward better health.”

Naturopathic Physicians

Licensed

Naturopathic Physicians (or Naturopathic Doctors, NDs) are licensed by the state of Washington and educated in rigorous four and five-year postgraduate medical programs. The demands of practicing medicine today require that NDs are well-versed in both Western and alternative medicine. Our medical training emphasizes accurate assessment and diagnosis, and specific treatment protocols, many of which have passed the tests of both time and research.

Our Philosophy

Naturopaths treat each patient as an individual, understanding that two people with the same diagnosis can experience disease in two very different ways. We use extensive information obtained from patient interviews, laboratory testing, and physical examinations to diagnose and treat our patients on an individual basis.

Naturopaths believe in the principle of “First, Do No Harm.” We have an incredible number of treatment options available for use before relying on drugs and surgery, and we always try to begin with the option that we believe will support the body’s ability to heal itself. We begin with the least invasive treatment option to address patient needs and work our way up a ladder of intervention. Options always include lifestyle counseling (diet, daily habits and exercise) and nutritional assessment. We believe that food can be medicine, and encourage our patients to be active participants in their treatment protocols.

Prescriptive Rights

Naturopathic Physicians have extensive prescriptive rights in the state of Washington. We are not opposed to the use of antimicrobials (antibiotics, antivirals, antifungal medications) or other pharmaceuticals, but try to use them only when medically indicated and often in conjunction with other supportive measures.

Our Staff

The Staff at Naturopathic Clinic of Issaquah

Our staff consists of Dr. Bizzy Riley, Dr. Erica Wood, and our wonderful administrators Stephanie and Erica. The doctors at the Naturopathic Clinic of Issaquah treat people of all ages and conditions, from young to old and everyone in between. We love treating and working with whole families and getting to know the entire dynamic that a family has to offer.

The clinic offers primary health care and general medicine, as well as treatment of a variety of chronic conditions. While our preventative care includes preventative services such as routine physical exams, sports physicals, blood work, PAP smears, and other necessary diagnostic laboratory tests, both providers are well versed in women’s health and hormone replacement therapy, mental health and GI health. Dr. Wood sees patients from 2 months old and older. Dr. Riley sees patients over the age of 18.

While we try to defer to standard laboratory testing due to cost, insurance coverage and convenience, we do also offer food sensitivity panels, stool testing, organic acid testing, SIBO testing and more when medically indicated.

Like all Naturopathic Physicians, Dr. Riley and Dr. Wood treat every patient as an individual. If you would like treatment that focuses on your entire person, and not only your symptoms, then you have come to the right place.

Dr. Riley

Dr. Bizzy Riley is a Naturopathic Primary Care Provider who is dedicated to helping her patients achieve wellness in health, work, and life. She graduated with a Doctorate in Naturopathy from Bastyr University in 2005 and has been seeing patients in Issaquah ever since. Dr. Riley is a founding member of the Naturopathic Academy of Primary Care Physicians. This work has deepened her commitment to providing care that is affordable, effective and safe for people of all ages and states of health. She has also served on the board of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians and as a delegate to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Dr. Riley believes strongly that we are all works in progress, and that moderation is the path to happiness and wellness. Her personal goals are to maintain a balanced and joyful life so that she can be optimally available to the needs of her loved ones and patients. Her own life experiences have allowed her to have a deepened sense of understanding for the fact that health looks different for every person, and changes according to different life stages. Dr. Riley is passionate about almost anything involving the outdoors, food, books and music. She lives in Issaquah with her husband, her sons and whatever chickens, cats and other animals have not been eaten by the local coyotes.

Dr. Erica

Dr. Erica Wood (preferred pronouns: she/her) is a Naturopathic Doctor and Certified Lactation Educator. Her clinical focuses are pediatrics, family medicine, fertility, women’s health and mental/behavioral health.  She can serve as your child’s pediatric provider starting at day 3 of life and is a participating Vaccines for Children (WA DOH) member.

Dr. Wood earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 2018 with a focus on pediatric primary care and family medicine/primary care.   Dr. Wood is a member of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Naturopathic Academy of Primary Care Physicians, and the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Dr. Wood lives in Issaquah, but is a NY native. She can be found hiking with her son or swimming in Lake Sammamish often, as well hanging out with husband “nerding out” on games, rock music  and movies.  Her healthcare style is a lot like a New Yorker- straight forward, compassionate, and works with you as the individual in a team based approach, where you (or the parent/child) is a participating part of the team!
